The Sand & The Stars
I walk the dog or drive from place to place
But I am stuck inside a mystery;
Are there more stars in all the depths of space
Than there are grains of sand beside the sea?
I hate to see computers take the place
Of banking clerks and taxi drivers, yet
I cannot weigh each beach or fly in space,
So I compute my numbers on the net.
A million times a trillion grains of sand
Unite to form the beaches and the bars
But in the icy dark of space there stand
At least a trillion times a trillion stars!
A trail of wires has led me through the maze
So I can talk to friends or work on plays.
